The Silver Lining

While this fire has been a great tragedy, our family has still been SO amazingly blessed! Extended family, old and new friends, friends of friends, co-workers, acquaintances, neighbors and strangers have stepped forward to help offering prayers, love, support and donations. People from all over the US, Japan, England, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Canada and Germany have read this blog. Boxes of goodies and beautiful cards have been anonymously sent to the family. God has shown his love through YOU!

They are excited to be able to attend some Longhorn football games. (Aggie blog author can't resist putting this in: Big 12 Power Rankings)

Yvette, Cassie and Alexa are still looking for a place to live. The girls would love to finish school in Bastrop (especially because of their sports) but Yvette works in Austin. Please pray they find something perfect for their family!

Aztlan started his first week of school in Manor, TX. He likes his new school and friends. His Aunt Roxanne and Uncle John are loving having him as a house guest!

Thank you!!!

The Robbins family has been completely and totally overwhelmed by the amount of support and prayers received. Saying thank you does not seem like enough; there are no words to describe their gratitude!

Aztlan was thrilled with his awesome goodies!! He will be living with his Aunt Roxanne and Uncle John for the rest of the year. He will be attending the same elementary Roxanne teaches at in Manor ISD. Some of the donations were used to set up a new bedroom for him!

He loves his super comfy air mattress and snuggly blankets-so does his pug friend, Lucy!

Cassie and Alexa were truly touched by the thoughtful gifts. Both girls started back to school this week. Linda is driving Alexa back and forth to Bastrop every day and Cassie is staying with a friend as she has to be there early for her sporting events.

Cassie shows her excitement...every teenagers dream, time for shopping!!

The insurance adjuster has been amazing to the family and is working quickly on documenting everything lost in the fire. State Farm is also finding them a rental to live in for the next 6 months while they search for another home.

A BBQ fundraiser will be held the for the family the weekend of September 24 in New Braunfels. Please check back for more updates and details on the event!!

Aftermath

These pictures were sent to Harold from his son the day after the fire. The family tried to go by today to see if they could find their cat Gracie and salvage anything, but were not allowed access to the neighborhood as some of the fires had restarted. Yvette (Linda) was interviewed by CNN, see the article below:

New Beginnings

On September 4, 2011 300 homes were destroyed by fires in Bastrop, TX. My wonderful family lost everything. They were in New Braunfels at the time and could not make it back to the house in time to save anything. Baby books, photographs and momentos are all gone. One of their cars, burned. If you would like to help this family of six, please click on the yellow donation button.

If you prefer to donate clothing, home goods, toiletries, etc. please leave us a comment and we will figure out a way to get it to them. Prayers are always appreciated!! Below is a brief description of my family members and what they may need.

This is Harold and Linda Robbins. A few years back they decided to build their dream retirement home in Bastrop, TX. They enjoy having big family dinners and helping raise three grandchildren that live with them. They both need clothing, shoes and toiletries. Harold is a big movie buff and an artist. Linda loves cooking and baking.

This is Yvette and her husband Dominic. She lives with Harold and Linda while her husband is deployed in Iraq. She works nights as a radiologist and spends as much time with her children as possible. Yvette also needs clothing, shoes, toiletries and anything else a mother may like!

This precious little guy is Aztlan. He is a first grader in Bastrop and is all boy! He has tons of energy and always has a smile on his face. He would love school supplies, clothing, shoes and toys. He loves superheroes!

These beautiful girls are Alexa and Cassie. Alexa is an 8th grader and Cassie is a freshman in high school. In fact, Cassie is celebrating her birthday today! Both girls are very athletic and driven. They would love clothing, school supplies, shoes, toiletries and any other fun extras a teen would enjoy! Thank you so much
for stopping by this page! We will keep you posted!
